Material | AFM 26 is composed of a pegged and galvanized steel core. An asbestos-free soft material compound is applied to both sides of the core which contains aramide fibres, inorganic fillers and high-grade elastomers.
Properties | In spite of the metal reinforcement which gives the material the mechanical stability required and good stress resistance, AFM 26 is characterized by excellent compressibility and recovery. Thus, AFM 26 conforms very well to sealing faces and compensates even major surface irregularities. The moderately priced material is resistant to oils and fuels, etc. It is also suitable for sealing off hot water and steam up to approx. 200 °C in stationary processes and at a surface pressure at assembly of at least 50 N/mm². In this case, AFM 26 outperforms conventional fibre gaskets. Please consult us for any definite application. In comparison to graphite gaskets, the material is easy to assemble and handle.

Surfaces | Special coatings applied over the entire surface or parts thereof are available for special applications, e.g. an anti-stick coating on a PTFE basis (also possible on materials in roll form) or a QJ coating on a silicone basis which improves micro-sealing (only available as a finished gasket). Screen printing with various elastomers is also possible.
